Field notes from
a ketamine journey
a ketamine journey
I found my way to therapeutic ketamine after years of carrying way more than I realized. Growing up, I learned that it felt unsafe to express most emotions, and that shaped me into a lifelong people-pleaser who often felt responsible for anything that happened around me.
Later, I experienced profound grief with the loss of my brother to suicide and the resulting ongoing family crisis. Instead of processing it, I stuffed everything down and kept moving forward out of fear of falling behind in life. Eventually, that unprocessed stress collided with severe burnout and depression. After traditional antidepressants made me feel worse, ketamine felt like a hopeful alternative.
It's a work in progress, but so far, it has created space for things I had ignored for most of my life: healing, processing, and self-compassion.
